We are all Campus, a UMU course for employment and university inclusion of young people with intellectual disabilities (19/06/2018)

On Wednesday, June 20, the closing ceremony will be held with the imposition of scholarships to the students of the Course We Are All Campus, which will take place at 6:00 pm in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Education of the UMU (Campus de Espinardo).

The event is organized by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Students, the Vice-Rector for Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society, and the Vice-Rector for Studies of the University of Murcia.

"We are all campus" has the funding of the European Social Fund and the Youth Employment Initiative, through the call for grants from Fundación ONCE.

More than 200 young people with intellectual disabilities participated in the initiative through the 15 Spanish universities selected.

The initiative is a "vanguardist" approach in Europe to achieve a change in mentality in all people.

The University of Murcia has developed the project We are all campus between November and June, to incorporate 16 of these young people into their classrooms and to work in collaboration with different companies.

The goal is for everyone to get involved in the training and hiring of this group.

For the students it supposes a training for the improvement of their autonomy and social-labor inclusion, and develops the motivation for the learning and responsible performance of tasks.

For the University of Murcia is to establish a system of inclusive training and standardization in the environment of their own university community.

The program includes support from technical and administrative staff of the Center for Employment Guidance and Information (COIE) and the Service of Attention to Diversity and Volunteering (ADyV) of the University of Murcia.

Likewise, it has had the collaboration of the Center for Studies on Disability and Promotion of Personal Autonomy (DIPAP) and the Faculty of Education.

In addition, social organizations related to intellectual disability collaborate, such as CERMI Murcia, Full Inclusion Federation, CEOM Association, Astrapace, Prolam (Astus) and Fundown.

The course was carried out by 16 young people from 18 to 30 years old, who have received teaching from the University of Murcia.

The course has been carried out with state-of-the-art computer devices and with specific seminars with experts in subjects.

In addition, an individualized tutoring program has been carried out for students with volunteer university students, favoring the participation of students in cultural and social activities of the UMU.

The course has included a period of Practicum in which they have been provided experiences of training practices and employment with support in the business field.

The 14 collaborating companies have been selected for the students expressly: Aguas de Murcia, Severo Ochoa College, E. Leclerc, Bambi Infant School, Hero Spain, Hospital de Molina, Hospital Quirón, The Opinion of Murcia, Leroy Merlin Cartagena and Murcia , Residence Villademar, Suvoz Global Services, Telecartagena and Terra Natura Murcia.
