The UMU celebrates the first congress on the use of big data for the energy efficiency of buildings (19/06/2018)

The energy dependence, the increase of its demand and the shortage of fossil fuels make necessary the restructuring of the energy policies that improve the operative efficiency in the chain of value.

In this sense, the emerging technology of big data, thanks to the analysis of huge amounts of information, offers new possibilities in decision-making to mitigate this situation.

In order to facilitate the exchange of ideas between the field of energy efficiency and big data, the Data for Low Energy Buildings congress (DATALEB) will be held on the 28th and 29th of June in the Degrees Hall of the Faculty of Law.

In this event, which has the collaboration of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) and the Seneca Foundation, will be held presentations from researchers and architecture firms, which will show successful projects and lessons learned on a new paradigm that is emerging in the world of construction.

As guest speakers, several references of this innovative field have been selected.

In the first place, Wolfgang Feist, who directs a world-wide revolution to have more efficient homes and more adaptable to climate change.

On the other hand, Michael Wetter, who leads the highest innovation in how to evaluate buildings from the Berkeley Lab, located in the Department of Energy of the University of California.

The congress will be inaugurated by the General Director of Universities and Research and will receive those registered at the Real Casino of Murcia, where networking activities will be carried out with relevant figures from the sector.

This initiative, which has also involved the Association of Energy Efficiency Companies (A3E) and the British company TinyTag, has consolidated the UMU on the map of the energy efficiency of buildings.

It is a strong bet that gives Spain the opportunity to host an unprecedented event.

Registrations can be made in dataleb18.inf.um.es and have a cost of € 150.

In case there is a significant demand for that, it will be considered to offer simultaneous translation of the speakers.
