The City Council takes the DNA-Connects to the districts to revitalize them and move forward in the co-government with the neighbors (18/06/2018)

This new participatory model that takes place in three weeks is already underway in Los Garres and in the Los Rosales neighborhood of El Palmar.

The goal "is to reach all districts and neighborhoods," said Mayor José Ballesta: "ADN Conecta is governed by two principles: the co-government of the district, that is, the effective participation of neighbors in decision-making, and participatory budgets. "

The City of Murcia has launched a new project of urban revitalization that has begun to be applied in the districts and neighborhoods of the municipality, called ADN-Conecta, which will be developed jointly with the Municipal Boards and the neighborhood and associative groups of each Population nucleus.

"In front of the Urban DNA that was developed in Santa Eulalia and is being carried out in El Carmen and La Paz, ADN-Conecta is more intensive in time and in the immediacy of the actions.

It is developed over three weeks: the first is Communication (the project is disclosed to neighbors), the second that of Participation (proposals and projects are collected, are held agora, round tables and mappings or routes neighborhoods in the hamlet to identify problems), and the third week is the Agitation, that is, the material implementation of the improvements, "explained José Ballesta.

It is currently underway in Los Garres and in the Los Rosales neighborhood of El Palmar, where the Agitation Phase will take place this week.

For its part, in Los Garres, today has taken place the meeting at the City Council with which the Participation Phase begins, and which José Ballesta has attended with council members Rebeca Pérez, Lola Sánchez, Conchita Ruiz and Marco Antonio Fernández , the representatives and leaders of the different associative and neighborhood groups of the district, as well as the president and members of the Municipal Board.

"ADN-Conecta is governed by two principles: the co-government of the district, that is, the effective participation of the neighbors in decision-making, and the participatory budgets, since they are the ones who previously decide the different investments that are made. are going to perform to revitalize the neighborhood, "said the mayor, who added that" both the funds and services to be provided are centralized and correspond to the City of Murcia, with an average investment of approximately 100,000 euros in each district or neighborhood".

Bacons Bridge, Llano de Brujas and San Antolín

The following places where you will act before the summer are Bacons Bridge, Llano de Brujas and San Antolín.

The idea, stressed the mayor, "is to reach all the districts and neighborhoods," and stressed that "the development of a DNA-Connect does not exclude the possibility of a future Urban-DNA, on the contrary, it is a step that precedes it , since it serves to identify upcoming projects ".

This model of urban intervention, in which Murcia is a reference, is included in the City Strategy and has been described as good practice by the European Union.

Several objectives are intended: to promote the growth of the districts promoted by the neighbors themselves, working together with the City Council;

create a list of proposed actions of the neighbors to study carry them out in the short, medium and long term, and connect the neighbors between them and with the Administration, favoring dialogue.

Cleaning, lighting and green areas

In the Agitation phase of the new ADN-Conecta project, the Town Hall Services will deploy their teams in the hamlet to, in a week, correct deficiencies or enhance various aspects.

This week there will be performances jointly with neighbors, working side by side, a social upheaval and other urban agitation, culminating in a day of coexistence in each of the districts and neighborhoods.

In this phase, improvements will be made mainly in cleaning, lighting and green areas.
