- Murcia now asks the mayor if this repeated invasion of a space for pedestrian mobility and cycling is compatible with its vaunted Murcia River project
NOW MURCIA denounces the situation that this morning presents the bike lane of the Segura River butte in the section under the Ronda Oeste highway, where dozens of cars and vans invaded this pedestrian area and bicycle mobility.
Several neighbors have shown this municipal group their discomfort with these events, which are repeated once again, and that prevent the normal circulation of cyclists and hinder the passage of pedestrians and runners who use the lane, where in some sections it becomes occupied more than half the width of the bike path by vehicles.
The municipal group Now Murcia has written to the Councilor for Traffic and Security, Dolores Sanchez, to request information about these events, as well as the councilman of Urban Mobility, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, to demand measures to ensure the effective use of the bike lane of the Segura river on the part of pedestrians, runners and cyclists.
The municipal training asks if this repeated invasion of a space for pedestrian mobility or / and cyclist, as it happened months ago with the Paseo del Malecón and Avenue Alfonso X el Sabio, fits the model of public space of the cacalada Murcia River project.
Therefore, Murcia now urges the mayor to stop announcing virtual reality designs and move to take real measures to ensure pedestrian and cycling public spaces.
