The Governing Board has given its approval to the cooperation agreement between the Department of Traffic and Citizen Security, the Department of Social Rights and the Council of Family and Equality of Opportunities of the Autonomous Community, to continue offering the service of protection and integral assistance to victims of gender violence in the municipality, through the Psychosocial Unit in emergencies of the Civil Protection Volunteer Group.
In this way Civil Protection volunteers complete the care that the Autonomous Community offers to victims of gender violence, being these actions on weekends developed in 24-hour guards by volunteer psychologists.
Thus, once derived from the Urgent Telephonic Attention Device for Battered Women of 112, 23 professionals of psychology and social work, with training in emergencies and crisis intervention, offer psychological assistance, comprehensive and immediate to women victims of violence of gender and their children.
In addition, they are transferred to the victim's home or to the place where it deems appropriate, in order to effectively carry out the task of accompaniment in the interventions that are necessary.
The Psychosocial Unit in emergencies of the Civil Protection Volunteer Group is currently made up of 11 psychologists, a social worker, 2 Psychology students, three Social Work students and 6 drivers.
To date and since this unit was launched in April 2015, this team has acted in 115 cases that occurred during the weekend.
