Goran Bregovi closes tomorrow "Festival Murcia Tres Culturas (28/05/2010)

Tomorrow, at 22.30 hours in the Plaza Belluga, Goran Bregovi XI "will close the Festival Murcia Tres Culturas in a concert sponsored by The Truth and will be accompanied by the Wedding and Funeral Band, a traditional music group of Balkan brass frenetic rhythms and melodies that same unbridled serves to encourage a wedding or a funeral.

Bregovic present his latest work, Alkohol.

Goran Bregovi Is one of the leading representatives of Balkan culture, as well as composer of many of the soundtracks of films by Emir Kusturica.

Their music is intense and explosive, and his compositions are inspired by the wildest and Balkan folklore alive, who knows to provide a contemporary perspective, the result no doubt of his past as a member of the white buttons, one of the most famous rock Yugoslavia, with which sold millions of albums in his country, becoming a star of the song.

In Alkohol combines the traditional sounds of folk with rock.

Bulgarian gypsy brass bands and polyphony

Bregovi Goran's music marries sounds "a gypsy brass band with traditional Bulgarian polyphony, those of a guitar and traditional percussion with a curious rock accent ... This contrasted with the background of a frenzied string orchestra and deep sounds of a choir male, producing music that our soul recognizes instinctively and the body receives an irresistible urge to dance.

Born in Sarajevo, a Serbian mother and Croatian father.

After a few years of musical studies at the conservatory (violin), Goran, at sixteen, he formed his first group, "The White Button".

Composer and guitarist ("I chose the guitar because guitar players always have most success with girls"), he admits his immoderate love for rock n'roll.

"In those times, Rock had a capital role in our lives.

It was the only way to make our voices heard, and publicly express our discontent without risking jail (or something). "

He studied philosophy and sociology would have been almost certain to be a professor of Marxism, had it not been for the huge success of his first album.

He went with his group, "The White Button" for fifteen years, marked by marathon tours and endless sessions of autographing in which Goran plays youth idol in Eastern countries until they get tired of this.

In the late eighties, Bregovi "takes time from his busy career to compose music for Kusturica's film Time of the Gypsies, and to fulfill his childhood dream: to live in a small house on the Adriatic coast.

The war shattered this and many other dreams, and Goran has to abandon everything and go into exile in Paris.

Film music

From the same historical context of the same generation, survivors of the same experiences, Goran and Emir Kusturica Bregovi "formed a tandem which did not need words to communicate.

After Time of the Gypsies, Bregovi composed the soundtrack "Arizona Dream.

The music with the intentions of the film: poetic

original and intense.

"One of the great things about Emir's movies is that they show life as it is: full of holes, hesitations and unexpected events.

This facet imperfect, disorganized one I wanted to preserve above all.

Even the songs recorded with Iggy are low production.

We hear her voice behind her, an old gypsy orchestra blowing trumpets before the war and cow horns.

It is really simple. "What Goran does not say is that this was probably one of the best performances by Iggy Pop in the last ten years.

Later, Patrice Chereau commissioned the music for La Reine Margot, Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 1994.

Bregovi "did a masterful job with rock accents.

The music for Kusturica's Underground, Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 1995, also bears the signature of Bregovi "and the white cat, black cat.

He has also composed the soundtrack for The Train of Life by Radu MIHAELANU.

Now Bregovi "is principally engaged in his career on stage performing her own music, but without completely abandoning movies: 27 missing kisses from Nana Dzhordzhadze in 2001, Music for Weddings & Funerals of Unni Straume in 2002 (original music and leading role .)

In 2004, Bregovi repeated "adventure: he composes music and plays the title role in the film Giorni dell'Abandono, released in fall 2005.

He has composed, also, music for theatrical productions as The Silence of the Balkans, directed by Tomaz Pandur, The children's crusade, Marco Dance, or The Divine Comedy, Tomaz Pandur, as well as collaborating with artists like Iggy Pop, Ofra Haza, Cesaria Evora, Scott Walter, Setzen Aksu, George Dalaras and Kayah.
